We offer Grief Aide training and workshops. We believe it is important to identify WHO we are before we start doing WHAT we are trained to do. Grief Aides are trained to be helpful assistants to grievers and to maintain a humble role in the practical love and care they offer. The griever is always considered the teacher, and the Grief Aide assumes the role of their student. Grief Aides are not grief counselors, therapists, mental health experts, or qualified to confront complicated grief issues. They are simply caring people who have been taught and equipped to provide love and meaningful care in someone’s season of loss.
This distinction between "aide" and "aid" underscores TGM's emphasis on humility, understanding, and collaboration. Grief Aides are not there to 'fix' the griever but to walk alongside them, offering practical and emotional support. By positioning the griever as the teacher, TGM highlights the importance of listening and learning, ensuring that support is tailored to the individual’s needs.
The training programs for Grief Aides focus on empathy, active listening, and providing non-intrusive care. Participants are taught to recognize their limitations and the importance of referring grievers to professional resources when necessary. This approach not only protects the wellbeing of the griever but also ensures that Grief Aides can provide meaningful and sustainable support.
Through these workshops, TGM fosters a community of compassionate individuals who are empowered to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing loss. This network of Grief Aides extends the reach of TGM’s mission, creating a ripple effect of care and understanding.
